The Second Congressional Comission on Education (EDCOM II) revealed on their analysis that most of the schools across the Nation experiences frequent class suspension due to natural calamities on January 19, 2025.

30 percent of the total number of school days are wasted due to calamities: The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) was one of the region that suffered, experiencing more than 52 days equivalent to three months of suspension classes.

Due to this circumstances, it was revealed on a study that the achievement in mathematics and science among Grade 4 students in the Philippines dropped by 12 to 14 percent with a standard deviation on average for each day of school closure, which is approximately equivalent to half to a full year of learning.

EDCOM II urges the Local Government Units (LGU) to balance the suspension of classes because whenever the LGU suspend classes there are some schools who are not really affected by the calamity where in a sudden rise of sun is experience; resulting for a day to be wasted.

Additionaly, EDCOM II also calls up LGU that per municipality should have an establishment in collecting data to have an localized information whenever they monitors the current status on there place.
